Hello all. I am interested to have people thoughts on the Economics or Mathematics and Economics course. I am doing this purely out of personal interest. I will be studying independently. I am based in the UK. I am more interested in the mathematical content.
It's not any easy program. You need to be very self-directive. I think it's a quality degree from a good school. I sometimes find it helpful to compare programs because delivery varies from place to place. So does customer/student services. Here's a few more you can look at https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/mathematics-bs-ba.44034/
FWIW, I have no direct experience with UoL external am very familiar based on the experience of a family member. Very rigorous.
One more big positive for the University of London is that the price is quite good. When you consider that all the books/material are included I think it compares well with most other schools. Another option is the other big British DL school. the Open University http://www.openuniversity.edu/courses/search-results/mathematics-and-statistics
The Open University (my MA is from there) and I really didn't agree with each other. I had two personal tutors, one great and the other... less so. However the course was the only one at the time that would fit around my life hence why I went with it. University of London is perhaps a slightly different approach but I've rarely heard anyone criticise the standard of it. The OU is a bit of a Marmite approach, I have some colleagues who loved it and did several degrees there in various disciplines.
