Why can't I search for my older posts?

When I use the "Advanced Search" feature, and type my user name in the user name field, and select all content types, I only get about 5 posts total. But when I browse the forum, I can find many more posts that I made. Why is the search feature not letting me see all of the posts I made?

There's another way though. Click on your own screen name (you know, in the upper left of a post box) and you'll see an option that looks like "View all posts." That should do it. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Because that search field is a keyword search that searches post tiles and content matching the word. It's not broken, no forum works this way afaik. The results you get aren't even your posts at all, they just have the word "pelican" written in them by someone. The proper way to view your post history on an internet forum is how Kizmet wrote above.

    Follow these instructions:
    1. login
    2. look in the upper right corner of your screen and click on your user name
    3. then look in the left side of your screen and click on either:
    a. "find all posts" or
    b. "find all started threads"

That will give you what you're looking for.

That still leaves me unable to find my older posts.

Do a Google search - keyword(s) from an old post + "Degreeinfo". Works for me all the time - I can usually dredge up anything I want, going back to 2001. Doesn't matter whose it is - mine or somebody else's - I can find it this way.

I can confirm that Google knows DegreeInfo.com better than DI's own search system does!

There is no question about it, the DI search widget kinda sucks. I usually use google too. As for the "why can't I see my posts?" issue, I haven't heard any other complaints so this might just be a Pelican problem.

I can't find your older posts either.
When I click on your name, I can follow the button showing to "view forum posts" but that's a short list.
So, when I click on your "view profile" button, that takes me in and gives me 2 buttons- "find all posts" or "find all started threads." I checked all 3 and still don't get more than a handful of your 206 posts.

Might be. I just looked for my old posts and the system gave me the most recent 100. I'm presuming that's the limit. Beyond that, Google works fine.
