^^^ Good points, sanantone. University of the People is a sensible choice for someone going the DEAC route and starting with few or no credits.

I think a Nations University degree would make sense if: You want to Pastor a church or build a spiritual community; You're interested in learning about Theology (personal enrichment); You're in a situation that many find themselves in where you need a degree, in any degree field, in order to hold on to your job or receive a bonus/promotion.

One thing I've noticed from demoing a few courses at Nations is that there is an awful lot of writing and forum discussion required, which I think is great. Ashworth requires what I consider to be quite a bit of writing too, but Nation's is way beyond that, so I think people who are going in may want to consider that beforehand.

I know Northwest University is a very good school with a "learn at your own pace" mentality. They have several online degree programs. You take one course at a time so it makes it really easy for working adults, people with busy schedules, etc. who want to go back to school or finish a degree. They are a top ranked college out in Washington state, and they are a Christian college who I know is very dedicated to providing a Christ-centered education. I've thought about going back to school and from what I have researched of the school, their online programs are strong.

Like most "Christian" colleges they have a pretty hefty price tag $300-$450 PER CREDIT is pretty darn steep https://www.northwestu.edu/cele/tuition/

I wouldn't want to enslave myself to a significant debt burden for the program they appear to offer.

    Proverbs 22:7
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

    Romans 13:8
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

That's their cost for their English language program. However, their degree programs still appear to be expensive. You have to refer to the online program's page to see the tuition rate. Business management is $427 per credit hour.

Forum participant "sanantone" prepared testing-out plans for many TESU degrees (on another site). Just google "sanantone BSBA TESC degree plan". Self-paced, cheap, widely recognized.
I can see some potential reasons someone might prefer some other program, but from the little we know from TS, this is the best option for him. My wife pulled CPA-qualifying degree at Excelsior with largely self-paced courses; it is cheaper and easier to do it now, especially if General Business will do.

Just make sure you use the plans for post-July 1, 2015.

Now there are a huge number of universities and colleges. You can choose any that you like.

Since when? Notwithstanding that Ted has responded to a post that is well over two years old, if you type the name of the other forum in the search box here on DI, you get a 10-page list of hits. Some of the people on both forums don't like giving each other publicity, while others don't mind. My vote: The relationship between the two forums should be a cordial one, not an adversarial one.

As Stanislav noted elsewhere, there are several people who participate on both forums (some under a different name and some under the same name they use here). (I'm sure sanantone likes that since she has to behave herself on the other forum and can't get into the racist, sexist horse manure and political diatribes in which she engages here on DI.)

Each forum has its strengths and weaknesses. The other guys are stronger on the Big 3 and on the issue of testing out. We are stronger on graduate programs across the board. Frankly, I don't read the other forum so I'm not aware of where they stand on irrelevant bullshit discussions about politics, but you find a lot more bad behavior here at DI than you do over there - which I won't say I support, but I do not approve of blanket censorship. I find DI's level of moderate censorship to be quite adequate, even though it sometimes results in people going too far.

But not being able to mention them by name? As Kevin Costner said in American Flyers, "Sounds like Bull Shinto to me."

So the obvious question is: Is Ted's response an official one based on the policy of all moderators, or is Ted talking out of the orifice on which he sits?

I'm the same on every forum that I'm on, and most of the threads I post here are posted on the other forum. There are just fewer village idiots, misogynists, and psychopaths on the other forum. They also don't have a designated person that constantly attacks new members for no reason, and there is currently no one there who has an unhealthy obsession with me. You would have been banned. Actually, there are some people who are still here who have been banned or previously suspended on the other forum. The moderators over there typically don't tolerate the level of idiocy and ruthlessness that's tolerated here. They would remove posts calling someone a bitch or a piece of shit, and the other members would ostracize that person. Since the moderators pretty much let people say what they want here, I have adjusted my language to shut up low-IQ, sexist wackos like you.

And, no one there would care about your sexual fantasies about Fundamentalist Christians.

Precisely, sanantone - you have proven my point. While there is appropriate moderation of posts here on DI, there is also much more freedom of speech, so that even you can post a blatantly incendiary message like the above yet still be allowed to express your obviously disturbed feelings and opinions. Don't ya love it? :D

As for my sexual fantasies about Fundie guys, I don't have much these days. Now that I'm a retired old fart, I limit my fantasies to Mormon dudes. :p

FWIW, sanantone, I've concluded that your problem is not that you take me way too seriously, it's that you take yourself way too seriously.

This is not complicated. This is not a mystery. We don't need to create a Harry Potter situation with "he who shall not be named" being the way we operate. Most people know there's another popular board. That's fine. Once upon a time there were several others. DegreeDiscussion seems to be on life support and eLearners doesn't even exist anymore. It's not that we can't mention degreeforum, it's just that we don't want to become a billboard for degreeforum. It's one thing to direct people to a board where they might find some answers to their questions. It's another to create posts that essentially are advertisements for another board. The former is OK, the latter isn't. There's no reason to think anything bad or wrong is happening here. Have fun. Play hard.
