Hey guys I have a question from my mom. I got so many great answers here and I hoped you all could help. She wants to go to school to get her paralegal certificate but she's self conscious about her age (I told her not to worry about it but she still does) anyway we found a university that looks good its called Post University. Does anyone know if this is a good school?
RA - been around a long time. Hi Post, under one name or another, has been around a long time,(1890). It has been regionally accredited (NEASC) since 1972. I guess those two facts can be considered "good." Here's a brief history: Post University - History I remember back pre-2004 when the school was Teikyo-Post University and was really expanding its distance programs. The school has its main bricks-and-mortar campus at Waterbury CT. Interesting fact about Post. This school and Strayer U, also RA, both accept credits from "Sodexo U." Sodexo U. is the employees' learning portal for Sodexo Corp., which operates many food businesses, including Burger King. Employees of Burger King (and other Sodexo-label businesses) can learn, plus get work experience credits from Sodexo U and then transfer those "Burger King U" credits to degree programs at Strayer and Post, both RA. Pretty much like the McDonald's "Hamburger U." program with credit at Excelsior College (RA) and WalMart's newly-announced program, whereby WalMart work experience can translate into credits at American Public University (RA). Wow thats very interesting, thank you very much. I just didnt want my mom to get into a bad deal, knowing that this school is "real" eases my mind.
It's a nice RA school in Connecticut. Their online programs include six different MBA programs, three different MEd programs, eleven Bachelors degree programs, five Associate degree programs and a bunch of grad certs and professional certs. It's worth a look: Online Degrees | Online Master's & Bachelor's Degrees | Accelerated Online Degree Courses | Post University
These days there are a lot of older students attending college for various reasons - to acquire job skills, to help promotion prospects, or just to expand their knowledge. In my area there was a 94 year old lady graduate with a BS (it was her life long dream to have a degree). I could not locate the story but did find this one about anther 90-year old lady. Helen Small, 90, Gets Master's Degree in Psychology From University of Texas at Dallas - ABC News I was 50 when I earned my BS degree. She will find she has a head start on young students (18 or so) because of her life experiences.
