Does Kaplan have a football team that this guy was on. ?

:) You know, I've been thinking there's no reason why online Universities can't have cyber-athletes (we have professional gaming leagues) and team "sports" like online chess tournaments, and other types of games that can be played at a distance.

Heck, at one point I was in an online "Quake" clan and we played at regular times and "places" (servers), we practiced and competed just like regular sports teams do.

I can't imagine this will take much longer to happen.

Maybe there will be Guitar Hero scholarships in the future? :)

Well, you could have online video golf teams. Or computerized fantasy football teams. Or ... ??? :D

I don't know about a joke, but the quizzes seem pointless. I've been going to Kaplan for 4 years now and I don't intend on going anywhere else to complete my degree. When someone takes a class it is up to them if they are going to change their bad habits of say bad grammar or not. I don't have the best grammar and I took those kinds of classes online. When I was taking the class I did everything I could to improve, but when the class was done I saw no point to continuing the good grammar lessons I learned. It wasn't intentional, but you tend to forget things cause some instructors care about grammar, but most do not so you get lazy and forget things you learned. I've also gone to UOP and I have to say Kaplan is a much better school for the nontraditional student.

Exactly. It is up to the student to get out of the experience what they will. Just because someone has bad grammar that doesn't mean the school is at fault. I remember in grade school certain students had bad grammar. Some people just have a harder time with certain subjects cause maybe it isn't very interesting to them or maybe they just don't think it's that important of a skill to learn. It's kind of like the saying "Don't shoot the messenger". It isn't the messenger's fault it goes back to the one sending the message. Meaning don't blame the school, it's the student, but don't blame him either cause he might decide to judge you and your faults and then how would you feel.

I agree to a point. The student that genuinely wants something out of his or her educational experience will get more. However, a minimum standard of quality has to be present. If there isn't a minimum standard of quality that has to be met, why have grades at all? Why not just set it up like many professional seminars where you simply get a certificate of attendence?

Ah, some assistance, if you please?

Um, hello everyone! I am a 26 year old introverted super-anxious aspiring writer Libra with severe ADHD and an obsession for Doctor Who... DT!!!

Anyway, about an hour ago I applied for information at EarnMyDegree.com... I think it was a .com... god my memory sucks sometimes! But anyway, on Monday I have an appointment with some guy from Kaplan, and I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out whether I ought to try this school or somewhere else... I read below and saw that Kaplan is a front for some Iowa place... ?? So they are a reputable school, though? Expensive, but reputable? Huh. Everything they do is online, which is good, because I get upset if I have to be around people too much without some kind of emotional safety net... I apologize profoundly for my failings to anyone that may find them offensive.

In any case, I require certain advice before this Monday meeting... only, being the confused little squirrel that I undoubtedly most times am, I cannot for certain describe in any great detail waht that advice may need to entail, so a little assistance in figuring things out would be greatly appreciated.

    1. I live with my parents, as the economy sucks for them AND for me, and my anxiety is a major obstacle to my working outside the house for any extended period of time... I worked at Dillards for a few months once, but I got sick with the flu because I was so anxious every night and morning I sobbed myself to sleep. I did that in school, too. My childhood was hell because of that. Again, I must apologize for my failings.

    2. I need to make an income... but again, we don't have much money, due to debt form hospital visits and mishaps and such. If I could support my parents without this problem of mine, I would. But it's just not happening. I really need some advice and help here, fellas.

    Any advice would be appreciated...

It would be easier to tell you about your alternatives if you'd say something specific about what subject(s) you'd like to study.
