Tom just posted a great review of his M.A. program ( http://www.degreeinfo.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000368.html ). It seems that this board could really provide an extremely rich source of information to DL consumers by following his model. This would require creating a new top level category, called something like <b>Program Reviews</b> or something to that effect. Under this category, there would be a listing of schools that offer DL. Then posters could provide a review of their experience - all categorized by school. I'm convinced that this could become a great internet resource. One should always check with prior / current students before entering a program. Of course, it would take some effort on the part of the fearles moderators to (a) set up the folder structure and (b) keep an eye on the posts. Instead of creating a folder for every DL program in the world, I'd recommend that they be created as individuals were prepared to post their experiences. By organizing a database of DL consumer experiences, potential students would have a great resource - prior to signing up for a program. Based on the helpful nature of many individuals who frequent this board, I'm certain that a large number of "reviews" would be included fairly quickly. For example, I'd be happy to post reviews on Southeastern, City U, Fielding and Penn State. Anyway, just a thought. What do you think? Barry Foster
Excellent idea. How about if this structure was by program such as Psychology-Business-Theology. It could have links to recommended programs as well as reviews of individual ones. Of course I know nothing about web construction so I would have no concept of how difficult this would be. mark
Funny that you should mention this, because the idea of assembling these various resources (Tom's MA info, Steve's portfolio description, Lawrie's marvelous BA in 4 weeks, Roger Habeck's degree-by-testing) and a bunch of other stuff) has been under discussion offline for about a month or two. I am hoping that we'll be able to start doing some of this in the very near future... it's purely a matter of having the time and energy to get everything organized.
