Now Ken, you know as well as I do that the Middle States decided to include TIU's degrees under Touro College's accreditation. Regardless of who issues the degrees, TIU or Touro College, they come from a regionally accredited school.

The rest of your questions are, therefore, moot.

I would like to add that the osteopathic medical college that graduates real physicians, TUCOM, is also a branch campus of Touro College. It too is RA and graduates people who cut other people open. BTW, it is also in California.
There are varying degrees of quality in all of these programs, but I have never seen anyone who has had a personal experience with Touro speak with anything but fondness. It seems more useful when giving someone advice to make truthful, factual comments instead of judgements based on misinformation.

The degree is from TUI as a branch campus of Touro College, and the Middle States Association is fully aware of--and approves of--this arrangement (I have two signed letters to this effect, as I wrote MSACHE about Touro as soon as TUI came into being). Both "Touro University International" and "Touro College" appear on the graduate's diploma.

I would add that all of TUI's programs have been specifically assessed, and approved, by the Middle States Association; in fact, the second letter I received from MSACHE mentioned two programs that had not yet been listed on Touro's web site.

There is some evidence of the acceptance of australian doctorates for full time faculty positions in the US and Canada.

I have a MBA degree and would consider pursuing DBA study at either USQ or CSU in Australia. Below is my personal experience dealing with them via emails:
    1) All USQ people that I dealt with were very polite and helpful. However, USQ is not very flexible in terms of accepting my MBA credits. They would only accept 12 out of 36 sem units in my course-based MBA program. I could have got 3 to 6 more transferrable credits if I had spent much more time to cross the courses between 2 schools. I did not do it. This means I have to spend extra 1-2yrs to complete the MBA core work before DBA. I can not accept this!
    2) CSU is much more flexible on the credit acceptance issue. Everyone I had sent emails to had responded promptly and provided helpful information. Their DBA program requires prospective applicants with 5 yrs of relevant business expereience and a masters degree before being accepted into the program. They accepted all of my MBA credits.

Thanks for everyone's insight. Does anyone have an opinion on what trends we might see down the road. Right now Touro is the only USA college/university that offers a complete DL Ph.D, do you think others will follow in their footsteps? Should I wait to see what next year brings?

I don't see any movement in reputable US Universities offering DL doctorates (unfortunately).

If there is hope, there is on two fronts:
    1) Australian universities being more "receptive" to "foreign" students... testimonies have been mixed to date.
    2) UK universities responding to market forces and offering formal, structured DL doctorates. There is a rumor that HW may offer a DL DBA... this may be huge.

Darn software must be acting up again. I missed your "illumination" on how/why Touro is a joke. Could you possibly re-post it?

He has loads of evidence. No, he won't share it with us. Do your own research. Stop me if you've heard this already. [IMG]
