Spain launched its long-awaited 'digital nomad visa' — here's who qualifies and how to apply https://www.yahoo.com/news/spain-expected-launch-digital-nomad-100600716.html
So I suppose the visa holder would eventually qualify for Spanish citizenship? That might be a pretty good deal! Spain also offers something like a retirement visa with no age limit but you can't work. Tempting as can be but...no, I'm better off here in the colonies.
When I lived in Tucson there was a non-profit group dedicated to getting people to move to Tucson while they continued in their jobs elsewhere. (Coincidentally, I had done just that a couple of years earlier.) It sent the message that Tucson was a good place to live, but not a good place to find a job. That remains quite true.
The South of Spain on the Mediterranean looks a lot like the Chihuahuan desert where I live but with the most incredible blue sea and sky. Sigh.
On my mother side going many generations back, we had last name Toledano. Most likely were exiled or expulsion from Spain. No I'm not looking to do anything about it. But in my veins maybe Sefardic and Ashkenazic ancestry DNA. Some of my co workers are very exited about the opportunity as job market got very challenging for them.
Retirement degrees? Didn't know they had 'em. I WANT one - based on prior learning. I have 30 years of retirement experience! Is there a qualifying exam I can take?
I did. Most interesting. One was even transgendered into "la vaca de Osborne" - the Osborne cow - complete with a pink udder. Long history. I like them. Both genders, and the animals that have yet to decide...
@AsianStew Any frugalistas here know where I can get a Groupon for a Doctorado en Jubilación? (Doctorate in Retirement.)
Okay - how about Plan B then, Rich? A Master's on prior learning & experience. The Doctorado? Research-only. I'll write a really original diss. that breaks new ground, for the little-known but prestigious "Universidad Abierta de Costaragua." Wait till you see it!
Right, I know the drill. I send the check, you fill out the diploma. I've half-a-dozen of them already, from other guys in the biz.
Next mill will be running by AI - and will generate Crypto based Degrees. It will infiltrate the registrars databases by bypassing security networks and insert records
Seems the application fee is £75. It's way cheaper than Barbados ($2000). Then there's Mauritius Digital Nomad visa that doesn't cost anything to apply. Portugal has a digital nomad visa program too.
53 countries with digital nomad visas as of February 2023. https://www.travelinglifestyle.net/countries-offering-digital-nomad-visas-and-residency/
