10K students enrolled Regent University enrollment is school-record 10,000 students; chancellor Pat Robertson calls it "incredible milestone" | Inside Business Continuing Education Work Development | pilotonline.com
As someone who's spent many years grading student papers, I am so tired of the puerile overuse of the word "incredible". That would be appropriate if Regent had one million students or maybe one hundred thousand, but ten thousand? That's fine, a nice thing, but it's far from being incredible.
Considering that we've spent more than a little time discussing the phenomenon of small colleges going out of business maybe it's just a little bit 'incredible" to find one that's growing.
I don't think that makes it "incredible", since higher education as an industry is consolidating, not shrinking. (But I don't mean to say it's not interesting; it is.)
