is apparently happening right now. Yeah, I mean right this second. BBC News - Global internet slows after 'biggest attack in history'
I have a Roku and Wii streaming Netflix and I'm on a laptop. If they're doing their worst, I'm unimpressed. (From my lone vantage point, of course....)
Cyberwarfare and terrorism is real. In many cases the attackers are supported by nations such as China, N. Korea, IRAN, and Russia. The Internet is the new battlefield. Trench warfare is gone.
This is one of the reasons I posted this story. I saw a news thing the other day. It was on one of those serious news shows. The guests we saying that all the time and trouble we're going to worrying about sneaker-bombers, etc. is wasted time because the real threat to the country is throught cyber terrorism. They made a very convincing case.
Number one attacker for the past few years has obviously been the Chinese, but (and this may surprise some) number 2 was/were the Russians. Warfare is changing at a cyclic rate rigth now and most Americans don't care...yeah "Dancing with the Stars!"
Well, here's a follow up story. Would you be surprised to learn it was all untrue? That Internet War Apocalypse Is a Lie
NorCal, organized crime has moved heavily into online ventures through identity theft, credit card fraud etc. The US has cyberwarfare units and this stuff is real. I am involved in IT security and can tell you for a fact that cyberwarfare is real.
It sure is! Take N. Korea for instance. Despite blustering, Kim Jong-Un and his bad-haircut goon squads can't fire a nuke this far - yet. However, they've got some of the nastiest hackers on the planet. Apparently, many trained in India. Here's a recent article: North Korea hacker threat grows as cyber unit grows: defector | Reuters Here's another. I found it very interesting, partly because it debunked my long-held belief that Mirim University in Pyongyang was an elite training site for DPRK hackers. Now I find that it's not an elite anything. Ask a Korean!: Just How Formidable are North Korea's Hackers? Anyway - as Ryoder says, cyberwarfare is real. Johann
Israel and its ally the US took out Iran's nuclear reactor with a target virus. Obama even bragged about it publicly.
