I seem to recall Trinity (www.trinitysem.edu) announcing some type of affiliation with the University of Wales a few months ago. As I recall, it was some type of degree validation process that the University of Wales offer with a number of schools. I no longer see any mention of this on the Trinity site. Has this program already kicked the bucket? Pug
Copied and pasted: I simply have to import this matter from other sourses as I find it to be very disturbing. It is about a BBC attack on Trinity Theological Seminary and its former affiliation with the University of Wales. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/7740904.stm From John Bear at Degreediscussion who appears to be the instigator: http://www.degreediscussion.com/foru...t=6288&start=0 Another viewpoint at DLTruth. Warning - my good friends over there tend to be very opinionated but usually correct: **Sorry, but we don't give them any advertising - Bruce**
Thank you. That is all quite interesting. I have no opinion on Trinity, but I know they have a checkered past. That said, I find it odd that UoW found their programs up to par, then severed its relationship after some bad press. That's too bad. Pug
Instigator of what, dare I ask? Two years ago, Dr. John Fyffe, who had been a senior Vice President of Trinity for quite a few years, wrote a devastating report on their operations and sent it to the North Central Association, which ended their accreditation candidacy soon after. Fyffe continues to post valuable and current information on the forum at www.degreeinfo.com. The BBC investigative program, Dragon's Eye, just aired a program on the University of Wales' 'validation service,' in which they give hundreds of schools around the world the right to issue their degree. Trinity has been one of those, the only one in the U.S. A few days before the BBC reporter was to visit Trinity, Trinity's president Hunter called the University of Wales to ask if they knew what the visit was about. Within 48 hours, Wales had terminated the validation. The BBC report (and other criticisms) have had a really dramatic effect on the University of Wales. One of their constituent universities has 'seceded' from the University, to go independent (as Cardiff University), and three of the remaining constituent universities have said they are seriously considering it. This is equivalent to UCLA withdrawing from the University of California System over differences with the UC policies. I believe it may mean the end of the University of Wales. I have no independent knowledge or information on Trinity, nor have I ever claimed to. I have described in my books how they started in Ohio as the Toledo Bible College, and, according to a long article in Christianity Today magazine, were 'invited' to leave Ohio, and re-opened under a new name in Indiana. Dr. Fyffe's report is indeed devastating, covering more than 20 major irregularities at Trinity and their formerly affiliated Masters Institute. When Trinity got Fyffe's report roughly two years ago, they immediately threatened to sue Fyffe, but they have not done so. Dr. Fyffe has just returned from a long tour of duty in Iraq, and once again is paying close attention to, and writing about Trinity. People have reported on various forums that they have been told by Trinity that Trinity is seeking accreditation from a recognized accreditor, not identified.
Trinity is making the claim on its website here: http://www.trinitysem.edu/AboutTrinity/Accreditation.html "Trinity is actively working towards an application for accreditation with a U.S. Department of Education (USDE) recognized agency." Pug
Sowak, just so I understand you correctly; did you copy & paste that entire thing, or are the people at "DLTruth" actually your good friends?
Trinity I'm predicting it is DETC, since they have dismantled their PhD programs in favor of all professional doctorates. Since his return from Iraq I have observed that John Fyffe has been posting at www.degreediscussion.com. Check out his thread on Trinity: http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6300 Happy Thanksgiving all! Tom
I was googling the University of Wales just now and this is what I found. There were six campuses for the University of Wales. Newport, Lampeter, Bangor, Swansea, Cardiff and Aberystwyth. Sprinting through each schools website I can tell you that four of these are not calling themselves the University of Wales at _______. They are now calling themselves Bangor University Swansea University Cardiff University Aberystwyth University Newport and Lampeter are continuing to call themselves the University of Wales. There's also something called the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff. I don't know if that's new or if it's always been there. I did this really fast so I could be wrong about part of it. Please correct me if needed.
Wow, they moved fast. And I have a friend who teaches at Lampeter, who says they are almost certainly going to go independent as well.
They are criticizing my desire to take advantage of the FEMA credit situation at TESC. I do not know them. Obviously, they are ripping on me. I did not even know that website existed. The poster over there is WAY off base. I will have 20 (or so) FEMA credits. About 50 credits will come through traditional classes, about 25 through online classes, about 25 through exams, and about 20 through FEMA. I have learned a great deal in all of the above methods of learning and assessment.
that side of the education sector in uk is very commercial at the moment u can pretty much find any school to 'co-operate' with and white lable their degrees under the guise of corporate learning
