Don't change your email address in your user preferences because you won't be able to post without activating the new email address. The system is saying that it is sending the activation email, but it does not happen. New members also will not get activation emails, meaning no new members can post! (I thought it was getting quieter around here) If anyone knows who to contact to get this fixed, please let me know.
Oh, and I registered at one of the other sites since this place does not allow new people to post. P.S. maybe the change email option should be disabled. Or at least a "sticky" warning against this problem.
..to get a bit MORE off-topic, what do you have for an e46? I just picked a new-to-me e46 .. and just ordered carbon fiber roundels (all around); head/tail/marker lights are coming up in the near future
You know, I never got too much into the aftermarket. I added clear turn signals and side markers. I have the jet black so it looks much cleaner without the yellow (the bulbs appear clear, but flash yellow). If I were 10 years younger I would have it lowered with 19" rims and all that. I have zenon, harmon/kardon, premium package, sport package, cold-weather package and I think that is about it. I am not as much a fanatic anymore as I've had the car since 2003. I do like it better than the newer model though. They are great cars, enjoy your new ride.
I just adore mine (2003 318i -- built in Germany with Gulf specs . . . I know they stopped selling the 318i earlier in the U.S.). I also have an incredible red '96 Z3 with only 60,000 miles on her. I'm a long time Beemer-phile, but that might change now . . . I'm about to start my new role as Learning & Development Manager for a billion dollar company in Abu Dhabi, and one of their business lines is the Mercedes dealership agency . . . can you say good deals for employees? Cheers, Adrienne
I know, I know! But look at it this way -- for at least the next year or two in the new role, I'll be running my Beemers hard . . . since housing in Abu Dhabi is triple the cost of what I pay in Al Ain, I've decided to commute instead, an hour each way . . . a brilliant 6 lane highway, with a speed limit of 160kph (~100mph) . . . when you've got two Beemers, who wants to pay the extra $$ for housing when the commute will be a pleasure? So, after I pile on the mileage, I'll be needing new cars by that time . . . of course, I'll probably be seduced by the new Z2, which is supposed to be out by then . . . rest assured, at least one of my cars will always be a Beemer!! Thanks muchly on the congrats -- I'm extremely excited at this opportunity and challenge, and am ready for my switch to the corporate world -- it's time! I've been headhunted all year, but this company is the greatest fit for me, with a terrific GM for a boss. Cheers, Adrienne P.S. A little Middle East trivia -- for some unknown (and horrible) reason, everyone here refers to BMW's as . . . BM's!!!! I just cringe every single time I hear that! Now that's blasphemy!
In the US, BMW autos are known as "Bimmers." "Beemers" refers to BMW motorcycles. However, this is commonly confused.
Thanks for that clarification. I was just using the spelling that most closely resembled how I say it . . . I've always pronounced the word with a strong "e" sound. I didn't realize the differentiation between the autos and the cycles (which are muy awesome, too!). Cheers, Adrienne
and speaking of motorcycles, have you heard that Indian motorcycles are GOING BACK INTO PRODUCTION? Forget those yuppie BMWs, buy a real American machine! http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/
