I think some degree mills will be killed in Wyoming and reopen somewhere else in US. Anyway, I hope PUT will overcome to be accredited.
    Please look at this amendment

Some schools in South East Asia were considered as Degree Mills because they tried to receive students as many as they could due to the following reasons:

If they can be accredited, they will not be permited to offer all kinds of degrees. Therefore, after accreditation, they will lose some money.

If they can not be accredited, they will close the schools and certainly, they lose money.

Personally, I do not think that PUT is a degree mill. But I try to go to UNISA. Should you recommend me some cheap accredited DL Ph.D in the world?

Please provide a link to the "PUT" web site.

PUT is abbreviation of Paramount University of Technology, Wyoming.

    Kindly regards.

    As I thought.

    Read this article.

It is misleading to the reader to characterize Paramount as a reasonable choice for an education with any sort of practical utility.

Occasionally agents and/or representatives of such as Paramount, in Asia and elsewhere, come here to promote such less-than-wonderful institutions so they can go back to said institutions and say, "See? Look! I got into DegreeInfo and put in a good word! See! I'm promoting... just like I promised I would, and as you're paying me to do."

I don't want this thread to become anything like that, okay? Please proceed with extreme caution with regard to such as PUT.

That said, I don't want to chill legitimate discussion about the amendment to which you linked us. That certainly seems worth exploring; and it would be nice if others could help you find a good, inexpensive, accredited DL doctoral program somewhere in the world, as you requested. UNISA's certainly a good start!

    Hey,
I do not want to lead people to a wrong idea that PUT is a reasonable choice. You can see that I used "former PhD of PUT" and "Going to PhD of UNISA" in my signature. PUT is considered as a degree mills at this time but in the future. By the way, there is no official documents from US goverment that listed PUT as a degree mill (remember that the article you mentioned is just the news, is not official). Therefore, I am waiting for the new WY amendments to know about the fate of PUT and I keep asking people about cheap accredited DL PhD.
Anyway, thank for giving me a gentle reminder.

IMHO, and in the opinion of most anyone who has even a clue about the bogus schools licensed to operate in Wyoming, consider Paramount University of Technology (PUT) to be right at the top of the degree mill pile of useless schools with worthless degrees. A quick Google search for “paramount university of technology mill” will produce volume after volume of articles. PUT also has no recognition as a legitimate school by states that closely examine or regulate the use or presentation of such bogus degrees.

The material on the PUT website is laughable and clearly a sham to give an appearance of legitimacy to what is nothing more (IMO) than a fake school. Doctoral degrees - right!

Nice try…. but Gregg pegged the starter of this thread right. In any case, the best thing for louisnguyen27 to do is simply remove any association to PUT and focus on his UNISA studies.

The day job of PUT's president...

Saleem H Zaidi, president of PUT, is also the "Principal Investigator" for "Gratings, Inc.," a manufacturer of a variety of silicon (and other) structures, located in Albuquerqu, NM.

PUT is a sad diploma mill. It is bad now and if history is any indication, it will continue to be bad into the future. Saying otherwise is disingenuous, at best.

    Whoaa!

Is Wyoming state getting serious about its reputation as a haven for substandard entities and diploma mills, or what?

Looks like year 2006 is going to be a good year for the citizens and sincere DL learners of the great state of Wyoming!

Perpertually unaccredited and woefully substandard entities in Wyoming, and its many outright diploma mills, are being put on notice: This state is no longer going to tolerate the shenanigans.

Get properly and legitimately accredited, as recognized by USDoE and/or CHEA - and get registerd - or else!

Am I reading too much into, and putting too much enforcement faith, in these proposed bill's amendments?

    I hope not.

May these bills pass the Wyoming State Legislature, in toto, soon!

The reasons for my budding optimism?

See these relevant sections, cited below, of said bill amendments.

As you read these sections and excerpts, think of the notoriously unaccredited and un-wonderful KW"U"'s and Preston "U"'s of Wyoming (and California, formerly of Hawaii and Oregon and ...... and .....).

I can't wait for the day the legislature passes these bills!

    Thank you, Wyoming DoE!

    Loophole?

    21-2-401 (b)
Applies to "Any private degree granting post secondary education institution shall prior to operating or doing business in this state OR CONTINUE DOING BUSINESS IN THIS STATE" (No grandfather clause)

    21-2-402 (b)
Requires: "documentation or other verification of accreditation by an accrediting association recognized by the United States department of education and accepted by the department."

"or verification of candidacy or otherwise in the application process status for accreditation" ... "up to a period of not to exceed five years".

Is there a loophole in this last part that will buy the less-than-wonderfuls a couple years in candidacy with an agency with no real effort, before packing up their PO Box and moving on?

:( Unfortunately, PUT's college in Malaysia was accredited by MoE so it is why I chose PUT. Anyway, I am going on with UNISA, but I do not understand the way that UNISA count the fees.
