Call me a negative person, but it is my belief the United States Government does not represent the average American. Being our country is a constitutional republic, we are supposed to be represented by our politicians in trade negotiations. However, nobody ever asked the average American worker if he or she wanted to compete with workers at depressed wages in countries such as India and China. Ask yourself the last time federally elected representative asked you or any person you know about how they feel about doing business with countries which abuse their people or having their standard of living lowered so some corporation can make profits at the expense of of the average American's standard of living. Isnt it amazing we do business with China which is a communist country, their citizens can come to the United States and ask for political asylum? I find it amazing that we now do business with the world's largest communist nation. I grew up being told communism is wrong and now we do business with them? How can we have faith in our federally elected officials when we are told it is good to do business with communist nations (i.e. China and Vietnam). However, we wont do business with Cuba? Such actions are not to the benefit to the average American. We need to pull out of world trade for the sake of principle. World trade has not proven to be of a benefit to Americans or to workers in other countries whom we have such agreements with. Let it be said, I am against world trade (WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, etc.) However, I am not against bilateral trade with reputable governments. In closing, let me say the WTO is a form of one world government through our pocket books. The WTO can overide some laws of the United States as it pertains to trade. Such an action is not legal in our constitution and does represent the average American. We as a nation need to wake up and pull out of such agreements and return to bilateral trade.

This belief is the crux of the problem. With few exceptions, we are supposed to be left alone in our own trade negotiations.

As is always the case with the ham hand of the State, you will shackle your own hands when you allow government to shackle your fellow citizens.

-----Government for the people by the people....i.e. politicians who are elected by the people that represent the people..not big business interests

Government always represents some interests at the expense of others as it is impossible to represent all interests. Better to let all interests represent themselves.
