As most of us know, learners drop out of online courses far more often than they leave classroom ones. Jeanne Meister, president of consulting firm Corporate University Xchange Inc. in New York City, says the firm's recent study of 4,100 online learners showed course completion rates of 30 percent, or a drop-out rate of 70 percent. This rate is far higher than the classroom drop-out rate of 15 percent, according to the study. Dismal as the online drop-out rate is, it represents a step forward from a year ago, when 85 percent of online learners failed to complete courses, Meister says.....
