As much as I wish I could vote "Edwards won", it was pretty clear to me about half way through the debate that Cheney was wiping the floor with him. Cheney is smart and tough, and has a way of being able to hold his own without notes and without the sound bites that Edwards absolutely relies on. Edwards realized as the debate went on that "My God! I'm up against DICK CHENEY - Lord help me!" He got that deer in the headlights look, became flustered, and started to lose it. Even Edwards' closing remarks, which I think were quite good, appeared to me like he had practiced it in front of a mirror many, many, many times.
While I don't always appreciate the candor of our current VP, no one can deny his grasp of political ability. I agree with Carl, Dick Cheney clearly "won" this debate (if declaring a "winner" even has merit...) John Edwards, IMHO, would make a good candidate for a TV preacher. What is always interesting is to hear the "objective" spins after the debates...they are mildly entertaining... My absentee ballot has been cast!
Cheney looked like the mean spirited old man that he is. Christ, he is only 12 years older than Edwards. Although he might have more government experience (something that never impresses me), Edwards clearly has more charisma and looks beleivable. Cheney never looked anyone in the eye - usually a clear sign of a liar.
