Where is Johann?

I haven't seen him on the boards lately, so I thought I'd ask.

 

Johann was last seen: Jun 6, 2024

I hope all is well, Johann.

 

Hopefully all is well with him.

 

I believe he turned 81 this year.

 

It has been nearly 1 month since Johann was last active. We have seen members leave for forum (Kizmet, Chris, Steve, etc.) but with Johann being in his early 80s, it concerns me more. Hope he is doing well and just taking a prolonged vacation.

 

He is knowledgeable in so many areas, so I miss his contributions. I'm hoping he's just taking a break.

 

He wrote:

"Learning Yoruba." 5 courses. Emi yoo ṣiṣẹ pupọ. (I'll be very busy.) Plus a designation in Islamic Finance, Insh'Allah. No more posts. Bye."

So perhaps concentrating on other things.

 

He posted that a year ago and he´s been here afterwards.

To be honest considering his age, considering that he mentioned that he had cancer and considering how often he has been here I I have the unpleasant fear of not reading from him anymore.

 

I hope all are going okay with him.

 

In August 2023 Johann noted he wasn't ready to go just yet. Dustin responded,

Maybe he's summering at the cottage without Internet, like many Ontarians? (Chance to avoid hearing about Doug Ford!)

 

Hope he is well.

 

I took a flight to Canada from Poland at the end of June. I am now in the City of Toronto/Peel Region/Muskoka (depending on the day) area for the entire month of July. I typically don't post much during the summer. But I don't know whether it's usual for Johann to take such long breaks from posting on the forum during the summer season.

 

I miss his multilingual commentary, and hope he is okay.

 

I think he is one member that connected with most of us in a unique but personal way.

 

I've been away from the board for a couple months (or at least, it feels that way!) And have to add my deep appreciation for @Johann onto the pile. You continue to inspire me with your language learning adventures and diverse hobbies, and I hope I have a retirement as fulfilling as it sounds like yours is. Hope we see you again soon!

 

Still have not seen any posts from Johann but looking at his profile shows he was last seen/active on July 22, 2024. So hopefully he is enjoying a lengthy summer vacation and will rejoin us soon.

 

I'm glad he checks in on us from time to time.
