What career....

    Why not work in a well paying job, save for retirement, then pursue a church job after you retire. In the meantime there are lots of unpaid church jobs from teaching Sunday school to cooking for the homeless. My grandfather played the organ in his church for two decades and never received a dime.

    I was looking at the low-residency MFA in Creative Writing at Seattle Pacific University; this is the kind of program I've been searching for -- combining creative writing with spirituality and religion from a Christian perspective. However, I couldn't attend the residencies, and the cost is $32,000. Those two things put it beyond my reach. But here's the link, for anyone else who might be interested:

    I want to revisit this thread one more time, to ask this: What degree would best equip me to do what I said in post one that I wanted to do? A theology degree? Ministry degree? Creative Writing degree?

    I'd like to get some opinions before I make my final jump. I've been officially accepted into National University, but I'm finding it difficult to give up on a theology/ministry degree.
