I applied to Excelsior and need 21 credits for Art and science electives. So, was wondering if someone could list few I can use from CLEP, DANTES etc. Please list the easy ones first based on your experience. thanks in advance.
Looking for quick and cheap? Depending on how much time you are willing to spend on it per month ALEKS could be a good option. $20 a month and you get as many credits as you can complete in each month. I have never tried it, but there are dozens of threads on this site about it. Also, since Excelsior grants a generous ammount of credit for ECE subject exams, you would save a lot of money if you can take one or two and make up your 21 credits. It would require some hard study, but it's doable and a great deal.
*CLEP, DANTES ARTS * American Literature * Analyzing and Interpreting Literature * English Composition * English Literature * Freshman College Composition * Humanities * French Language (Levels 1 and 2) * German Language (Levels 1 and 2) * Spanish Language (Levels 1 and 2) Ethics in America Introduction to World Religions Principles of Public Speaking SCIENCE: * Natural Sciences * Chemistry * Biology Astronomy Environment and Humanity Principles of Physical Science I Physical Geology
Do you need upper or lower division credits? If upper then CLEP probably will not meet your needs and DSST has only a few subjects that are accepted for RD credit. Which Excelsior degree are you pursuing?

Guys, what actually Arts and science electives mean. What types of courses fall under each..examples Arts - Liberal Arts or Language and arts Science - Physical science, life science or computer science. Since, I am computer major, if i take following will they be considered as Arts and sciences electives? Information Systems and Computer Applications - CLEP Introduction to Computing(would it be considered same as above?) - DSST Principles of Statistics - DSST Management Information Systems- DSST College Mathematics - DSST Sun certified Java programmer(how many credits?) - Sun certification And yes some easy ones from posts. Are these Arts courses? Analyzing and Interpreting Literature Here's To Your Health DANTES Principles of Supervision Marketing - CLEP
And yes some easy ones from posts. Are these Arts courses? Analyzing and Interpreting Literature--YES Here's To Your Health --NO DANTES Principles of Supervision--NO Marketing - CLEP--NO[/QUOTE] CLEP A & I Literature is a good one if you have decent reading comprehension and speed along with the patience to analyze poetry. CLEP Introduction to Sociology is usually recommended, but I never took it myself. U.S. History I and II are doable. There's a sticky in the "Exams for Credit" sub-forum that has a nice listing of the exams from easiest to most difficult that you may find helpful.
Alissa, thanks. As always you are very helpful. How about Humanities- CLEP. It has 6 credits but will it go towards Humanities or Arts and sciences?
Since your humanities general education requirements are already met, the CLEP Humanities would go toward your Arts & Sciences electives.
A & I CLEP is easy if you're a good reader ("good" meaning you can read classics & poetry well, as well as "normal" stuff). Freshman Comp was also a breeze for me, but I love to write, so it depends on your individual skills. Humanities, English Lit, & American Lit overlap a lot of information, so you can take the two lit tests while studying for that portion of Humanities. If artsy stuff isn't your thing, you can take Intro to Psych, Intro to Sociology, Educational Psych, Social Sciences & History, Microecon, Macroecon, Biology, Natural Science, the list goes on... (Oh, & all of the above listed are CLEPs)
