I heard about it on Friday, but WGU has finally publicly announced these two new masters degree programs. An MS in Computer Science and an MS in Software Engineering.

    Both programs have concentrations.
For the MS in Computer Science, the concentrations are:
    • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
    • Computing Systems
    • Human Computer Interaction
You can find out more info about the CS masters at the link here: https://www.wgu.edu/online-it-degrees/computer-science-masters-program.html

For the MS in Software Engineering, the concentrations are:
    • Domain Driven Design
    • AI Engineering
    • DevOps Engineering
You can find out more info about the Software Engineering masters at the link here: https://www.wgu.edu/online-it-degrees/software-engineering-masters-program.html

I am personally shocked by the explosion of actual Computer Science masters degrees. A big reason why I got my masters in information technology from HES was because there were almost no options for an online CS degree at a reasonable price, and what few options that existed back then required a CS undergrad degree.

We are living in amazing times for distance learning.

WGU programs are great for people who are currently working. It is very difficult to find a job with the WGU program graduates if you are not working.

What do you base this statement on? I've seen no data to say that's the case.

I personally knew people in this situation. My nephew graduated from WGU with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; he couldn't find a job after 2 years. Some people reached out to me to ask for jobs, and my friend is running an IT Consulting company. He received some resumes from WGU graduates. There were some of my co-workers earned their degrees from WGU; they got pay raised.

WGU is becoming slightly a step above Phoenix and a little better than a diploma mill (just because it's regionally accredited).
The degrees are not deep enough to impart much knowledge and preparation for graduates, unless they do their own side study and preparation.
Speaking as someone who earned an M.S from them, and then eventually went back to use employer tuition assistance for an undergraduate degree (that I didn't finish, because I was mainly interested in getting the IT certs paid for)
