Dear All I need your opinion about Walden University. Does its PHD certificate worth going in or no, Does any one from you gets his/her PHD from there? can I work in the Universities with Walden's PHD I'm waiting your valuable opinions
Walden University is serviceable, but not prestigious. There are people who hold doctorates from there who teach in American universities, but it's widely considered more difficult to get a tenure track position with a degree from there than it would be with a degree from a more prestigious institution. What discipline interests you? -=Steve=-
If you are trying to earn a PhD for use in industry, Walden would be an good place to attend (although I don't think they have a Phd in Electrical engineering yet). The faculty in the engineering department at Walden are very well known..a few examples are below: Sanjay Bannerjee - Univ. of Texas Jonathan Bard - U of Texas James Collofello - Arizona State Joseph Harder - Univ. of Virginia Mohammed Ismail - Ohio State If you are trying to earn a Phd for use to teach at a university in the US, Walden may not be the best place to attend. What do you plan on doing with your PhD?
I'm intending to teach in Universities, actually I know they do not have PHD in engineering, I'm thinking of IT field. What other universities you suggest for teaching purpose?
I'm intending to teach in Universities, actually I know they do not have PHD in engineering, I'm thinking of IT field. Do you want to teach in universities in the U.S., in Lebanon, or elsewhere? What other universities you suggest for teaching purpose? If you want to be able to teach in the U.S., I'd think that your best bet would be to come here on an F-1 visa to do doctoral work at an American university rather than do one by distance. I don't believe any top PhD programs in IT are available solely online. -=Steve=-
Actually I'm intending to teach in Kuwait, and It is difficult to me to live in US for 4 years. Moreover I know a person who took his PHD in IT from Pritoria (distance learning) and he is teaching in one of the Gulf Universities, but I'd prefer an American or British universities, So Do you recommend one
Have you considered Columbia's terminal degree (PD) in Computer Science? http://www.cvn.columbia.edu/b/degrees/cspd.html It's not a Phd and it's expensive, but it's also Ivy League...which brings up a whole different issue (is it better to get a Ivy League 'lesser degree' than a Phd from a 'lesser known' school?). Either way, Columbia is worth considering (IMO). Greg
I like South African universities, especially for the price, but ifyou'd prefer a program from an American or British school, and don't mind paying, I'd recommend you focus on the British schools. I think you'll have more luck finding a doctoral program there that is recognized and which will require little or no travel. -=Steve=-
Yes Im looking for such shcools but with reasonable fees, Do you suggest names for such universities?
Since you plan to seek a university teaching position in a country that does not consider distance education degrees to be inferior, you should be able to earn a degree from any regionally accredited distance learning program offered by online universities in the U.S. and meet your needs. Schools such as Capella University, Walden University, Northcentral University, etc. would be great programs for you IMO. You can receive a solid education at any of those schools.
Abe, Try this link. http://www.ncu.edu/dpro_spec.asp?degree_program_code=PHD-BA&dp_version_id=6&dpro_section_main_id=59. It will take you to Northcentral's Ph.D in Business Administration with concentration in Management of Engineering and Technology. It is a completely online program and is regionally accredited. It may suit your needs. bama
