While the issue is politicized, it appears that media and gov officials are downplaying the impact of Venezuelan gangs in the US and particularly in Aurora, CO. FBI allegedly confirmed that members of "Tren de Aragua" were behind the building takeovers, but that the issue was a "blip on the radar" due to the Venezuelan gang's growing national presence. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/22/nyregion/venezuelan-gang-aragua-crimes.html "Gangs have taken control of several of our properties in Aurora, Colorado," the company wrote in a thread on X last week. "In an attempt to discredit this fact for political purposes and avoid governmental accountability, some have spread false information about our situation." CBZ also said that the gangs took over a tenant's apartment while on vacation, forcing the tenant to find a new place to live when he returned home. "Despite clear evidence, many still deny the reality of the situation, sometimes using us as scapegoats. That’s why we are no longer staying silent," the company wrote. "We will continue to counter falsehoods with simple facts and evidence. Yes, gangs did take control of our apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, and the government did nothing. That is the real story." “In modern history the US has never suffered an invasion of the homeland and, yet, one is unfolding now… It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi-division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent or allegiance is completely unknown.”
Long before claims of Aurora gang takeover, apartment owners came under fire from inspectors and residents Documents, reports show recurring problems at CBZ Management’s Denver and Aurora buildings https://www.denverpost.com/2024/09/18/aurora-venezuelan-gangs-cbz-management-apartment-owners/
Yes, this is the tactic used by local officials to present the management company in negative way. Those are not related to the gang issues reported, the amount of evidence is mounting that politics as usually, especially in elections year, artificially conceal the issue. People in Aurora, Co are frustrated with this issue. Progress made, before officials denied the gang existed, now they admit at least to this part but need to do more to combat it. I hear that residents are arming themselves, while some types of munitions are forbidden to be sold in there, they are not forbidden to poses, so people are traveling to states where they can purchase legally what they need.
