Reed College Seeks to Stop Copycat Web Site - Wired Campus - The Chronicle of Higher Education

The University of Redwood (Torrance, CA) has found an efficient way to develop its web presence--simply copy Reed College's website (including its list of faculty, calendar, etc.) and replace "Reed" with Redwood"...almost.

On the "About Redwood" page, it still says "About Reed." University Of Redwood
    University Of Redwood

Dr. Bear has given us a number of amusing examples in past of entities that have "appropriated" the websites and faculty of other institutions. Here's another.

How do we know that it's not Reed that copied the University of Redwood's site?

The Redwood site is still up at University Of Redwood

I assume the question is facetious, but in case anyone is wondering, there's an archive of the Reed faculty page as of May 2008:
REED COLLEGE | Faculty Web Pages

There is no archive of the Redwood page. The Redwood domain wasn't even created until June 2010.

Also the fact that the Redwood faculty page doesn't even work (all the faculty page links have been replaced by '#') is a bit of a tip-off.

You would think so; however it is common for diploma mills to use the names of legitimate schools and the schools rarely go after them.
