A little clarification from my wife. It was not her boss it was somebody connected with DoDS (Department of Defense Schools) in Europe. DoDs is the organization that runs schools for US miltary/dipomatic/GS children. He told her that he felt that the University of Maryland's European "campuses" (and he may have meant only the ones on the military bases as opposed to the main European one) were not rigorous enough and that basically he had disdain for the credits. I don't know whether he could have done anything about it since they are accredited and I assume he would have had to have given teachers credit for them whether or not he felt the credits were rigorous.

Let me also say that this was some time ago, prior to my having met my wife. In other words we are not talking in the last 10 years.

    Lewchuk,

Your broad statement has no merit. A problem in a court ruling with UMUC does not mean that the program is a sham. It could come down to one person, one type of degree, or someone's perception without facts. I might just as well make my own broad statement and say that German DL is dismal because the country is unable to establish significant DL programs comparable to offerings in the U.S., Great Britain, South Africa, and Australia.

I was not dismissing the programs based on their national origin, I was saying that many of the most popular US programs seem to lack respect whereas the British programs do not.
One example, I have found 4 non-resident MSc programs in finance.
UMUC, Golden Gate University, University of Leceister and University of London.
I can assure you sir that the British schools are more highly respected... this scenario tends to repeat itself.

Every person I spoke with who were critical of Pheonix, Walden, Capella, Nova, TESC, Regents, Golden Gate, UMUC and a few who were supportive of British schools were, to my knowledge, patriotic americans.
