Does any degreeinfo forum members have any experience with UC Irvine Extension? I recently signed up for a search engine optimization class and wanted to know about the quality of their courses. I dropped my RWU classes because I've decided to transfer to Troy. I needed something to hold me over until then and decided to go with UC Irvine.
UC Irvine has an excellent reputation for its B&M programs. Never taken their extension courses though. I would assume they wouldn't want to damage their brand and would offer up a decent education. Let us know.
I'll keep you guys posted. The class starts at the end of the month and I'm ready to roll. I swear not taking a class is the worst. I got the shakes!
Thanks guys for the replies. I noticed that my class is worth 3 units. I'm hoping those are credits and not CEUs.
Ever since UC Berkley's (?) self-absorbed blah-blah about their first online undergraduate degree actually meeting on-campus standards, I would give a dime to the UC. But I'm also boycotting Verizon and Toyota because their commercials are annoying. (I drive a Mazda and have an AT&T phone, so I doubt they'll be very impressed...) I'm sure the classes are good though.
Ian: It's not offered yet. Here is the original (?) article: UC online degree proposal rattles academics - SFGate There are some pretty biting remarks, I believe on e-learning pundit. There was also a discussion on this board.
I'm really enjoying my UC Irvine class so far. The assignments aren't that difficult, but the amount of information the professors give out is insane. I plan on doing a full review when I’m done.
And you don't think the Mazda "Zoom, Zoom" commercials are annoying too? Mazda is a good car, I used to have one.
Sorry to hijack there before. I'm interested in this thread because my daughter is considering enrolling at UCI.
Education, most likely. She is also looking into nursing, but I think she favors teaching. I've been trying to warn her that getting a job as a teacher is very difficult these days. I don't know if UCI offers anything in nursing, although I would assume it does.
I took a simulation & Modelling course through UCI, and then found out it was not transferrable even to UCI.
