Sort of. I was corresponding with a potential supervisor who was at Pretoria when we began talking, but moved to CPUT.

Only you can decide that. You said one of your goals are to work in banking, in which case I'd think that the DBA or the Doctorate in Finance might work well. You also said you want to teach for foreign university's centers in Vietnam, in which case you should ask them whether any of the credentials you're considering would make you a competitive candidate.

I'm in the first course, so I only have direct experience with one. He's extremely knowledgeable about Austrian economics, and very approachable. He is the program director, so assuming that he holds the other faculty members to the same standard, this is a plus.

So far they all seem excited to get started, but the economics program is too new for them to have seen any benefit from it. Perhaps SMC could help you get in touch with alumni for their other programs, to get a better sense of whether they got as much as they hoped from their degree.

If you want to correspond with me, you're welcome to do so at [email protected].

This depends a lot on where you live. I live in Canada and most employers might require a foreign degree evaluation from places like WES. I believe that the both schools that you mentioned wouldn't be recognized here as they are not recognized by their countries of origin. I have seen WES reports that validate degrees from DETC schools as equivalent to Canadian degrees.

The best would be to contact the authority of your local government and see what the requirements are in order to get it validated there. If money is an issue, I would rather go for a DETC DBA from a place like CSU.

Or an combination of an AACSB MBA and a Vietnamese Ph.D?

After considering about your recommendation, I have another plan: To make an combination of an AACSB MBA and a Vietnamese Ph.D? It will cost the same money and time with an DBA from UBI or SMC (about USD11,000 for the cheapest AACSB MBA at Vietnam such as Delaware State Uni or an online as South Dakota Uni and only USD1,000 for an Vietnamese Ph.D.)

Maybe it will be the best solution for my above target? A National Vietnamese Ph.D. is in some case not worse than an Malaysia Ph.D., because our National University has some co-operation programs with some very rigirous international Universities, such as Kenedy School - Havard University, Hawaii University or ESCP (France),... In the other hand, an AACSB MBA will make me acceptable for teaching in some international business program in Vietnam.

    How about your objective ideas?
