So... I woke up on the morning of November 3, to the news, or lack there of, I will not be the Commonwealth's next governor. My initial consolation plan was to run against Abby Spanberger. I might just move to another state. Too many GOP candidates are looking to run against Rep. Spanberger. I'm very curious to see how the Virginia GOP picks its nomanee. Though, I was a delegate for the last unassembled convention, I thought the process silly and an affront to democracy. I will likely begin to support one of the many GOP contenders. I know which one I cannot support. I repudiate anyone who tries to sell "great replacement theory" nonsense.

Have you ever actually been on a primary or general election ballot? If you have, good for you! If not, I encourage you to make the (enormous) effort to run. Good candidates of every background and outlook are essential.

I hope you go for it and I wish you the very best success.

No. I did meet all of the GOP gubernatorial candidates I have been in conversation with the third party gubernatorial candidate. I was upset with the way the Virginia GOP picked our executive candidates. One was required to register as a delegate to vote in a weird unassembled convention. They used rank order voting, Wich was just to Euro for me. Credit to the Democrats who actually held a primary election. There are several Republicans vying to run against Abby Spanberger. Spanberger could even get my vote if she comes through on promises of Congressional ethics reform. Maybe by ensuring the STOCK Act is applied to Senators, Representatives, and staff as intended.
My campaign was a blast. Instructed around like a NORK General with a chest full of campaign buttons, just so people would ask what they were. I was able to give many away. I styled myself the Virginia viniculture/Craft Beer Candidate. Search my name on YouTube for some good recommendations. I have two types of videos. The Happy Friday ones are just about the joy of living. The Vote for Chief Fout Dot Com Show are my political rants but, still lots of laughs

It is exceedingly difficult to get elected without the support of one of the two major parties. It can be done; I've seen it done here in New Mexico, but I wouldn't want to try it myself.

At the federal level it's close enough to impossible that one may as well call it that.

And unless Congressional delegations start being chosen by party list proportional representation rather than by first past the post in single member districts, it's a very safe bet it will stay that way.

Generally speaking, I would think Spanberger would be one of the Democrats that Republicans tend to dislike the least.

Well, Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska managed it but she had long ago assembled an independent base.
