I graduated in 1991 from Bristol university in the UK and the practice then was not even to tell you your final exam marks let alone any kind of transcipt. I suspect this was due to the Universities not wanting to be sued for giving, for example, a 2.1 to a student with all A grades but who did not do a very exciting final project v a student with A, B's who did outstanding research in there final year project. Employees never used to ask for a breakdown of your degree either but this is changing.

By the way University of Lincolnshire and Humberside has now become the University of Lincoln

    Hi Peter,

I don't know what the issue is here - I think you're being given the run-around.

I'm looking at copies of the transcripts I got 10 years ago respectively from the UK Universities of Loughborough, Sheffield and Leeds.

A small service charge was levied ... and I notice they all start (on official university stationery) "To Whom It May Concern" ... and then proceed to detail the result of each course taken and examination mark / formal assessment whatever.

Having such as a requirement is the least you could expect. And U have no doubt any student of any British university can ask for and get the same.

    Regards,

    Neil

    Neil,

From your description, someone has sat down with the exam results from the examiners' meeting, and transcribed the results. Did they include the qualifying year, or just part I and part II? (I'm not even sure if records of the qualifying year were even kept past the second year...)

(Apologies to those unfamiliar with the arcana of pre-modular British degrees.)

    Hi Jon,

Three different types of qualification were covered:-

Bachelor degree: every formal exam I took over 3 years, the result, thesis mark and overall degree level. Plus sandwich course industrial periods listed and location. (prepared by Dept. concerned)

Master degree: each eaxm, thesis and overall grade (Prepared by Faculty concerned)

Cert Ed: Course assessments and overal grade with statement of Commendation (High standard) or Special Commendation (Exceptionally high standard) (Prepared by Registrar's office)

    Regards,

    Neil
