I am looking to complete my degree through distance learning. I have over 100 hours from a fully accredited university, am a MCSE, and have 5 years experience in the IT field. I would prefer somewhere where I can get credit for all of this. Any suggestions?
http://www1.excelsior.edu/itweb/itcts01.html I'm doing a Biz degree at Excelsior...you can't go wrong and you could finish your degree in a couple months.
I would guess, as suggested above, that Excelsior would be a good choice. So would Thomas Edison State College. As to your five years of experience, that in itself means little. What would make the difference is whether you learned something in that five years of work that could be proven within a portfolio assessment (which you likely have). Tom Nixon
Bamfsog, Be sure to see Lawrie Miller's "BA in Four Weeks" thread from several weeks ago for insight into accelerated progress through a distance school such as Thomas Edison or Excelsior. Also, read Steve Levicoff's (unofficial) pages on Thomas Edison and the process of submitting a portfolio for credit: http://levicoff.tripod.com/tesc.htm Particularly in IT, you might consider ICCP ( http://www.iccp.org ) certification for which TESC will award credit.
