If Middle States pressed on Touro to do so, wouldn't it be possible to move, say, to Prescott, Arizona to avoid what appears to be a more rigourous accrediting agency, WASC? I mean, this is a DL school, and who cares if the headquarters are located in Ca. or anywhere else?

I think it is such as pity this is happening. I wonder if other schools have "helped" get them on probation given its irrefutable success and, I pressume, the loss of business for the establishment. Naaah, this is maquiavelic. :p

I have heard (only rumors) that WASC is the most difficult to get regional accrediation from, so i am not sure they would want to go that route.

It's actually not a bad idea for some of the branch colleges of TC to seek RA independently. Not until a few years ago, TC was a small NY liberal arts college but with several braches that have grown within a short period of time to swallow TC, things might be a little tight for TC officials. Self-study for RA under the current arrangement could be horrendous for TC.

All these are much ado about nothing. I have been associated with regulatory accreditation for several years now. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) routinely put hospitals on probation to comply with certain requirements during or after accreditation process. It usually takes six or more months to comply with such requirements. I have never heard or seen people not going to such hospitals. The same goes for schools. Many of the writings here are based on innuendoes. Until Touro loses accreditation, there is no basis for the types of postings I have seen from some people here. In the case of hospitals the process are usually private unless the hospital has repeatedly demonstrated non compliance and in that case the accrediting agency have an obligation to warn the public. This is not the case with Touro. Middle States web site still has them as accredited. So what is the fuss about? The school is still undergoing their self study or whatever it is accrediting body does. I think we all should stop and allow them to do their job instead proffering unnecessary and baseless reasons.

Almost every school has been asked to correct one more deficiency at one point in their existence. Touro is not an exception. Touro has been around for about 40 years or so and has grown rapidly in recent years through their various campuses here and abroad. May be there are something they should do and I believe they are already doing it. Why the fuss?

All those talking about program or quality should simply look at Touro faculty listing. I also challenge anyone to compare Touro students to students from any other school - at least in my program of Health Science; the students are of very high quality and are already accomplished.

I am glad most people in this forum probably do not make key employment decisions because I have seen demonstration of lack of understanding of accreditation process. Folks stop and let Middle States and Touro do their job.

Again, I say to those complaining of not hearing from Touro about their application that Touro is not obligated to respond to their application. This is because for more than three months now, Touro has stated on their web site particularly on their web application that they are not taking application for the PhD program due to capacity. If you decide not to heed such warning and apply any way, may be you are ready for doctoral study yet. You should be able to understand that the school is not accepting application. If you ignore such notice, then you have yourself to blame not Touro.

I have no problem with Touro at all. I am enjoying their program and will continue. Whatever it is they have to do they will do. I disagree that it takes away from their reputation. It does not. To me it will enhance their reputation having gone through the process. It continues to amaze me when I read Touro is the only entirely online PhD. Obviously people do not research PhD programs. There are several PhD programs online entirely online. They are all like Touro associated with B and M schools. They are mostly in the health arena.

As far as I am concerned, I my faith in Touro remain unshakeable.
