I think the programs shown (undergrad, masters doctoral) is a description of the schools offering, not an accurate listing of all the programs AACSB accredited.

Does anyone have a link to the Ph.D. through Case Western Reserve? I am unable to locate anything on their website.

Short residencies are required at Grenoble/Newcastle, so it isn't a completely nonresident doctoral program, right? Also, it doesn't carry the Ph.D. designation, which is a minor point to some. Looks like a very interesting program though...

Kristie7, we have always expressed our differences on the issue of AACSB and others like it in what I have called alphabet soup which is irrelevant unless they lead to eligibility for licensure, certification or other distinct professional recognition which AACSB and others which accredit business programs in colleges do not.

I am surprised that you have chosen to enroll in Grenoble Graduate School for a DBA which is not accredited by AACSB at the doctoral level. Have you changed your mind?

Just for the record, as long as an institution is accredited by a recognized accrediting body that is what counts. All the talk of teaching at universities and the likes won't happen regardless of the degree you hold unless it is backed by a solid work history, publications, speaking and other professional accomplishments. Holding a degree does not necessarily guarantee a teaching position.

Good luck in your study. By the way, I read in another post where you imply there is stigma on distance education. I venture to say there is none. Distance education is only relatively new in the United States. For the rest of the world especially Europe and Africa, it is as old as education itself. What is new now is the method of delivery. Instead of waiting for mailman, you can either get it via video on demand, live, or CD ROM. The question of stigma does not arise at all. Some of the best research institutions in the world here in the United States hires/recruits people with degrees via distance education every day. Also, distance learning is not new to the people of Alaska. The University of Alaska have been delivering DL education for years and have now perfected it thanks to the internet which has eliminated distances in education and conferencing.

Unless Grenoble wishes to pursue AACSB at the doctoral level in the future, you may not have made the right choice if you really desire AACSB program accreditation. As far as I am concerned, it is simply meaningless based on the experience I have seen around me. Again, good luck in your education.

Kristie, according to the AACSB website, Grenoble is listed with "undergraduate, master's" and not doctoral. Does this mean only their undergraduate and master's business programs are accredited?

NOOOOOO - This is not my program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I am not sure how else to say that it is NOT the one on the website.

Mine does require a once a year 4 day visit, so it is not completely non-resident, as well as a trip once a year to New Orleans.

This is true, but the hard part I have is that I think you are right, I do not argue that it makes a profoundly better school (which that is the part I agree), but I do argue some schools out there require it from their faculty.

No - They are accredited, I announced it in another thread. AACSB announced their new accredited school Dec 25th, and a full school presss release will come out Jan. 15.

I have started teaching at the school I want to get a faculty posiiton. I want to publish a few articles, before I apply. Do yoiu recommend anything else?

My last professor at Tulsa said I would never get a teaching position at any school if it was distance - and when I told the Dean, he didn't disagree - I think they are wrong, but I think some are ignorant - but I am willing to fight that battle!!

No, that designation is for their "knowledge management" area, when someone is looking for a school, they type in what type of schoo, etc. and it pops up with the list. Unfortunately it is very inaccurate, some schools who don't have a master's program is listed with having one and vise versa - I used to e-mail them when I found the problems (about 20 schools are wrong), but they didn't do anything about it.

Remember - AACSB does not accredit any one degree, but the department - it is accredited.

Kristie7, in addition to publication, try to send in abstracts to as many professional conferences organizations as you can afford for professional presentations when they accept them. Some might pay for your trip, others may give free registration and others may pick up the entire expense. I do that regularly but my employer is now trying to put some restraint on my ability (they say temporarily) to do that for some good reasons not worth sharing here.

Well what I saw in AACSB's web site left me confused about your choice. I believe you know better since I am not really in business line ( I am in health care area) although I hold an MBA and you are not going to believe this from a school that is now AACSB accredited but I am not impressed because at the end of the day, I maintain it is meaningless but the choice is individual. Greetings.
