Tom Nixon was absolutely correct to delete the thread on DWCox/Rich Douglas.

However: I have also taken the liberty of deleting the thread that, in its subject line, claims that Dart12, Jeff623, and H. Piper are the same person. This is a completely unsubstantiated claim and, while it is obviously not possible to defame anonymous people, it is in principle no different from saying "Tom Head and Russell Morris are aliases used by Steve Levicoff" in another subject line. In my view, it is a personal attack and therefore a violation of our terms.

Anyone who would like to discuss this matter further should contact me by email at [email protected], and probably Cc: to [email protected]. If you must discuss this matter in public for some reason, please confine your remarks to this forum so that the 98% of participants who have no interest in this topic will not have to wade through endless metaforum debates.

    Thank you.

While I can't say that I really disagree with your decision to delete the DART12, Jeff, and HPiper are same guy thread, I didn't think the thread was insulting. It was just irrelevant and boring. I think we should error on the side of free-speech.

So my opinion is that this was a gray area. Maybe it should have been left? On the other hand it was no where near the topic title, i.e., Tom Head Crushes Free Speech With Iron Fist. [IMG]

Not surprising. I've always suspected that.

    This is certainly humorous!

Steve Levicoff lives in, iirc, Pennsylvania.

Tom Head lives in, as he has stated in previous posts, Mississippi.

I live in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of North Carolina.

While I have corresponded with Tom a number of times, and Steve on a few occasions, both via e-mail, at a.e.d. (as Harvesthills), and on this forum, I have never met either one personally.

So, no, I am not an alias of anyone. Only myself!

Somehow I just knew that somebody would take my remark seriously.

No Russell, I am fully convined that neither you nor Tom is Steve. Or vice versa. Everyone can relax now that that is straightened out.

The whole thing was an (apparently failed) attempt at irony.

Although being one's own alias is a little bit mind boggling.

I really thought it was stated in jest Bill. And forgive the grammatical construction of my last statement. It would be rather difficult to be one's own alias.

oh I don't about that--it isn't that hard to be your own alias--you have been on the unmoderated group lately.

But after looking at that topic heading, I wondered if this group had been infiltrated by the resident spammer of the unmoderated group--it has that graphic quality to it, as other folks will remember.

Tom Head is factwatcher?!!??!!!! Boy am I surprised. However, I notice that factwatcher has not posted here and I'm sure that Tom Head knows that there's a rule that you can't use more than one alias in this forum therefore it must be true! [IMG]
