The story details a class action law suit filed by investors in one of the companies of Hong Kong billionaire Richard Yi, claiming, in part, that the Stanford University degree in computer engineering reassured them in investing in Rediff.com. Li subsequently admitted that he had attended Stanford, but not earned a degree.
