"People were killed and thousands were injured when pagers held by Hezbollah members across Lebanon exploded on Tuesday afternoon, in what appeared to be a widescale, coordinated attack attributed to Israel.

The unprecedented wave of explosions, which also reportedly killed and injured several people in Syria, sparked chaos in a region already on high alert for the outbreak of full-scale hostilities."

Maybe it's a precursor for enhanced military action in Lebanon, while Hezbollah is panic and not able to communicate.

I admit that this story makes me laugh. I have to assume that some very sneaky folks in Israel probably pulled this off. They need to be congratulated. I hope they throw them a big party with lots of back patting. The Hezbollah terrorists are not likely going to be using pagers, for a while at least. It may be kind of dark of me but it "tickles me pink"! :D

Now thousands of Hezbollah Walkie Talkies have exploded. Still very funny from my point of view.

How the heck is Israel doing this? Maybe Israel offered to buy all this equipment for Hezbollah? LOL

There are competing stories about how this was possible.

What I heard on Israeli Channel 9 Russian-speaking TV is that Hezbollah put explosives in the devices for fear if they fall in to Israeli hands.
Self-destructing explosives installed by their Secret unit(they hoped it's Israelis), without telling the users about it.
And "Someone" found a way to trigger the self-destruct system that designed to hurt a person holding the device, by increasing temperature of the device or a battery.

Dr. Evil: You know, I have one simple request, and that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now, evidently, my cycloptic colleague informs me that that can't be done. Uh, can you remind me what I pay you people for? Honestly, throw me a bone here!

Now it's walkie-talkies. Seriously. If you're in Hezbollah, stay away from fax machines, mimeographs, overhead projectors, slide rules....

It is reported that larger quantities of explosives can be inserted in to walkie-talkers.
So today we see cars explode, motorcycles, etc.

Reading the Arabic social media has been fascinating. The people on the ground see Hezbollah in a much less rosy light than BBC News does and are openly thanking lsrael for her actions even do Israel is not admitting and taking responsibility for these actions.
    Food for thought.

CNN interviewed a doctor in Lebanon that treated a few of the cases. Most of the cases were the same. A hand holding the pager up to read what it said, the hand needed to be amputated, the face with severe injury, one or both eyes blinded. Probably another 5 or 6 corrective surgeries required in the future on the face.

It will be interesting to see what kind of response Hezbollah comes up with. The ranks of Hezbollah must be in chaos at this point in time but, they're going to be craving revenge.

Just logically, I think it most likely that Hezbollah itself had the bombs placed inside as Lerner described earlier in this thread. What an absolutely horrible decision.

That doesn't seem logical to me at all and not only because of what's happened.

It just seems more far fetched to me that Israel was able to have an extra board with a small blast on it inserted into all of the pagers and the walkie talkies without Hezbollah finding out.

More information is circulating, different opinions etc.
Some possibility is what it was Hezbollah greedy purchasing team, that was offered a better deal for the same pagers and split the profits.
Something going on with connection to Budapest and a mystery woman.
Yet, it was credible intelligence info, that Hezbollah inserting self distracting mechanisms to explode their sensitive communication devices in case they fall in the wrong hands.
    Multiple versions and theories exist.

It would be amazing if it was Hezbollah who created bombs for these guys to carry around, and then accidentally set them off by dialing the wrong number.
