This is just a test

Okay. In that case, since y'all already know where my degrees are from, I'll add my other course work . . .

(See the punchline at the end...)

Oh, the punchline: These are all courses that I never finished. I think traditional classrooms suck eggs, as do most canned/rote external and online courses. :D

Ok Steve, you have unintentionally fallen into my trap! Professor Abner hereby grants you an F-! You have failed my test, and know you must go visit Dean Tait's office immediately! The University of Abner does not accept mediocrity, period! :)

    See ya,

    Abner :)

Actually, there is no trap - I've always been open about being an ADD'er (even before it became fashionable). That means that while I can excel on an independent basis, I get bored as hell in a classroom - always have. Thus, I have never completed a college-level or higher course in the traditional environment (or, for that matter, in an online situation - I find them far too "canned").*

But remember that, as a general principle, ADD'ers can hyperfocus in areas in which they are interested. Which is why I was able to write my M.A. thesis in three days, my Ph.D. dissertation in less than a month, my book published by Moody Press in a month (during a break from the dissertation), and my book from Baker Book House in a month. Not to mention my TESC in B.A. 18 months, my Vermont College/Norwich U. in 1 year and 29 days (but who's counting?) from matriculation to thesis presentation, and my Union doctorate in the then-minimum of 2 years to the day.

Given a choice, I'll take ADD any day. And leave both the traditional classroom and online learning behind. ;)

    * The one exception was the Maritime Security course from Cal Maritime, a campus of Cal State U. It was one of the most well-designed and interesting courses I've ever seen, and I actually learned a lot. On the other hand, the Global Logistics Specialist coursework from Cal State Long Beach was so inane it was pathetic. They lost me in the first week when I saw that the week's group discussion question was, "Think about times when you have worked on a team or been part of a team. Describe a good team experience you have had. What made it memorable? In addition, describe a bad team experience you have had. What made it memorable?"

Come to think of it, there was one other course I completed - it took only a couple of hours. It was from - I kid you not - lubricantsuniversity.com, which is a professional program from the folks at Chevron. They offer the first course free, in hopes that you'll enroll in additional courses for $69 each. The courses are highly technical and geared toward mechanics, and the price was right so... Besides, when I saw words like lube and viscosity, I thought it was a sex course. Go figure...

Yeah, I have a friend who has ADD. She is currently working on her PhD with minimal effort! Damn. That girl can do three things at once, and write papers at 1 or 2 in the morning.

The great thing about Diahann, is all of her degrees are via distance! She is presently a V.P. of finance, and is next in line for a CEO position. The problem is her ADD can work against her. She will buy a huge new Mercedes, get bored with it in six months, then trade it in and get something else. She ends up losing money. She and her husband had a huge house by a prestigious golf course. They bought it right before the real estate prices shot up! What did they do? Sold it, and blew through the equity money they had! Damn. Know they rent a house for $2,500.00 a month, which is considered a bargain here in the "O.C.".

    Gotta go! See ya Steve.

    Abner :)
