http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-1111poll,0,4984499.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines More bad news for the Bush administration. Let's hear the right-wing degreeinfo crowd try to defend this turkey one more time! Of the 40% who still TRUST the Bush Administration, my guess is a sizable portion of that percentage reside on the political forum right here...... as stated before!
I particularly like this line from the article... "I know he is a man of integrity and strong faith," said Fran Blaney, a Republican and an evangelical who lives near Hartford, Conn. "I've read that he prays every morning asking for God's guidance. He certainly is trying to do what he thinks he is supposed to do." Well, let me venture a guess here. God ain't listening! And he sure as hell isn't helping, although Lord knows this President needs his help more than any other given his relatively low capacity for critical thinking.....
Evidently, Bush stumping for Kilgore in the last few days of the Virginia gubernatorial race helped lead to a victory for Kaine, so perhaps people really are sick and tired of the son of a gun. -=Steve=-
I wouldn't gloat too loudly, my good friend. Approval ratings: Bush 36% GOP 34% Dems 33% After Bush's speech today wherein he stated quite emphatically the intelligence was believed even prior to his Admin by Dems and most of the European nations and, after some info is made available to the general public--WMD's were in fact found--Bush's ratings will improve. Jimmy Clifton, former Republican now returned to the Libertarian Party and still a Bush supporter.
I agree, Jimmy. I think the DNC is acting like a bunch of idiots. If Clinton says that Iraq has WMD, it's a sure thing but if Bush says it...he's a liar. Anyone with an ounce of common sense should be able to see through their agenda. They're trying to be opportunistic...they seem like some hungry sharks--they're embarassing. I'll be glad when we have our primaries so I can switch parties.
I guess Uncle Janko and I should retract our statements that we are leaving for a period of time to focus on our studies. Quite honestly, DI is a welcome break, however, from the intensity of the studies. Now, on to to the topic at hand. In all honesty, it's all politics, very little statesmanship. Bill Clinton could be in the White House and the Dems, especially Kerry, Kennedy, Reid, and Pelosi, would be out there making the case for the war. The GOP would call Clinton a liar and say he decieved the U.S. into going to war. The fact is that it's all politics. The GOP condemned Clinton for bombing Iraq and going into Bosnia. Bosnia was a good thing. It ended rape of children. Iraq is a good thing. It ended rape of children and genocide. War is hell. But humanity must take precedence. Can any civilized nation really stand by and allow human torture, suffering, and genocide to occur right under its nose? The world is not pretty. It's cruel. It's evil. It's inhumane. It's complicated. Put party politics aside and be a simple humanitarian, once and for all!
"Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of war, where every man is enemy to every man, the same consequent to the time wherein men live without other security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal. In such condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no commodious building; no instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short." - Thomas Hobbes, Motivational Speaker.
Thomas Hobbes Hobbes is ALSO the father of modern jurisprudence. But BEST of all, he's a part-time stuffed tiger! Incidently, Hobbes does not say (IIRC) that this situation is in any way DESIREABLE; I think his point was that these circumstances cause humans to join together and transfer to the GROUP some portion (ALL?) of their individual sovereignty in order to provide for the common defense.
Re: Thomas Hobbes I thought of getting in the religious angle with a reference to Calvin & Hobbes but I would not do such a thing.
