The Squad Has Been Decimated by the Democratic Primaries. Democratic showdown comes as two other members of the Squad – Reps. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., and Cori Bush, D-Mo. – were ousted in primaries earlier this year. It’s possible another member of a Squad will be knocked from her seat in Congress. There are a number of members of the squad, that are in a closely watched showdown. Omar’s race is one of several primaries happening across the country on Tuesday. She’s made more controversial comments than many other lawmakers who have raised concerns about Israel’s actions. It appears now not even a single representative who got into Congress on the heels of the mandate of police reform - defund the police, remains. They failed to convert into a more durable political organization, which meant that it couldn’t mount any campaign.
Didn't AOC come in at the same time with a similar campaign? But I suppose that would support your point, she's the most politically astute of the bunch. The other thing to consider from these results is that with Lauren Boebert winning her primary, Matt Gaetz set to cruise to an easy primary win next week, and Marjorie Taylor Greene not being opposed for renomination at all, Democrats are a lot better at taking out the trash than Republicans are.
My Ukrainian church is in St. Pete, and the Representative there is Ana Paulina Luna - one of the most openly anti-Ukrainian Republicans (along with Gaetz, Boebert and the rest of the bozos). I thought for a moment the church ladies would speak out against her during the primaries. Alas, her only primary opponent is, literally, Dave Miscavige. Republican Party is useless, as a body and every single politician in it.
Ilhan Omar clinches victory in closely watched primary after two losses for the progressive 'Squad'. Omar will face Republican Dalia Al-Aqidi, an Iraqi American journalist and self-described secular Muslim who calls Omar pro-Hamas. Omar did condemned the Hamas attack on Oct 7th, even if she is pro-Palestinian. While pro-Israel activists may feel that the time is ripe for a third Squad defeat, pro-Israel money has not lined up in large amounts behind Omar’s opponent, Don Samuels, and they expect she will win her primary on this Tuesday. Patrick Dorton, a spokesman for the United Democracy Project, a political action committee affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee , confirmed that the PAC was not involved in Omar’s race, but would not elaborate.
