TTU is selling most of its facilities in Highland Park and planning to partner with Woodland Park Baptist Church. I called TTU to see if these plans meant a delay in applying for RA through SACS. The bad news is that application to SACS will be delayed. I appreciated their honesty on the matter. The good news is that I view this move as a significant step forward for the school. The current campus is half empty, very old and in need of substantial repair. This move should generate some liquidity and free the school of the costs associated with the deteriorated assets. It's a big step toward financial stability and, in my opinion, should help them a great deal when the application to SACS is finally made.

They had been talking about it and now I guess it is official? I agree. Good move. I finished my DMin with them this year. I was on campus in 2011 for the research & design procedures course and the downtown campus is plainly a hindrance to growth. The classroom we used for the weeklong seminar was poorly maintained & in serious need of repairs. The facility, as you say, is strikingly, ghost town like, half empty.

I love tradition & am as nostalgic as anybody but this move is a good one. The school has done great staff & faculty & alumni. This may be exactly what they need to move forward into a renewed era.

Agreed, and I think it's coming at a great time. While student enrollment is modest compared to its peak in the late 70's and early 80's, TTU saw a 47% increase in enrollment from 2012 to 2013, excluding its online students. This reversed the trend of steady decline over the last decade or more. Online enrollment is also up.
