Has anyone on here taken the VCLA exam or any of the Praxis II exams? I'm thinking seriously about applying for the Career Switcher program and am curious if there any good study resources someone could recommend. Thanks.

Sorry for being late to the party!

I did not take the VCLA as it did not exist when I became a teacher. I did, however, take the Praxis II in Social Studies. I was not exactly a "career switcher" but I took somewhat of a career switcher path to get my license. I was hired under a provisional teaching license back in the fall of 2005, and during my first year I took the education courses I needed through the University of Phoenix. My first year was considered my student teaching, so after that and finishing my courses, I had my full license the following year.

Hi Matt, thanks for replying! So you taught in the public schools before switching to community college? I'm considering doing the same and like your story in another thread where you had completed a degree at WNMU which helped in getting your new job. I'm thinking about doing the same.

If I can answer any questions about WNMU or teaching in Virginia, just let me know. I'll be glad to help.
