As with most things, Trump is uneducated in this area. Trump wonders why we accept so many immigrants from sh*thole countries and not countries like Norway. First of all, Norwegians don't want to come here in large numbers. They're happier in their own country.

Trump has specifically referenced African countries, but he doesn't know that African immigrants tend to be highly-educated. According to this article, 43% of African immigrants have a bachelor's degree or higher. Nigerians, specifically, have the highest percentage of college-educated people out of any group in the U.S.

Nigerian Americans also tend to do pretty well economically making more than the U.S. median.

Very true. I have a friend who is very well respected amongst doctors. His speciality is hair transplants.

There aren't large numbers of Norwegians.

Virtually the same was being said of West Indians decades ago.

There are over five million people in Norway. What percentage of those people want to move to the U.S. to be worse off?

And rightly so; many West Indians do extremely well here. That's good for them individually, but one might argue that the brain drain is severe enough to be to the detriment of countries back home, especially the ones that have been developing more slowly.

What I would hear in NYC was people pining for their island while ruing the lack of jobs there.

And that's why I go against the grain in wishing a push for trades over higher education in most of Africa. Having a fancy degree while doing without any fancy plumbing or electricity will cause a brain drain.
