subject GRE for Excelsior science degree?

I want a BA or BS from Excelsior. Probably in Biology, because I am not much of a Physics person. Chemistry seems more difficult to me but seems a little more impressive to me. I wish they had a BioChem major since there is a BioChem GRE.

Is taking the subject GRE the only way to avoid having to enroll in courses? That was my original plan and then I decided that it looks bad for grad school admissions to have 'tested out' of most of the credits in my Major. But, on the other hand I really need to complete the degree quicker in order to have time for other important things, so I am thinking I need to make the subject GRE a big focus.

In other words, I am disappointed that there aren't enough other science ECE/DSST/CLEP especially upper level. My other science course credits are: Bio I, Chem I, Physics I, BioChem, OChem -- all of them with labs. I know there are a few great ECE like A&P and Microbio but I need to take the GRE also, right?

And would the BioChem GRE (if I feel up to the challenge -- it seems more impressive to me) apply towards either one I wanted (Bio or Chem degree), or neither? [I'm also thinking of going for the Psych GRE instead or also.]

I am aware that I may have to take a few ECE and at least one class in additon to the subject GRE I choose.

    Thank you.

    Brainstorming...

Well, I have decided that I should take the Biology GRE -- other course/exam options, if they existed, would cost more and take at least the same amount of work, probably significantly more. I think I should also take the Psychology GRE but it's way less important than Biology and could wait for over a year.

I have about 9 weeks to study for the October test date and 13 weeks for the November test date if I want to go for either of those. Otherwise April, but it seems bad to wait so long because things could come up and it could be inconvenient. It would also be nice to get the Bio GRE out of the way so I don't have to worry about it so much (and then take the Psych one in April).

There are some other small goals that will take up time. Maybe say I study Bio for an average of 20 hours a week... 180 hours total... I wonder if that's enough to get a great score. Might make more sense to aim for Nov, but then I think I'd want to work on more other projects and get distracted. Wow, it will be Oct before we know it.

So far I have the Princeton Review 4th ed, ETS 3rd ed, and Kaplan. I have my notes and Bio textbook (first year college level) and another Bio textbook... might not use these or just read once. I hardly remember any Bio from long ago but back then I could have aced this GRE. I was also exposed to the material multiple times back then but I was guilty of cramming too.

Anyone else planning to take this in Nov or Oct? I will see how much progress I've made and decide on the date later.
