    Hi Guys!

I am interested in starting a school either online or mail order.
Dr Bear is a big inspiration and I hope to run an institution that will make him proud.
Any ideas or recomendations on which states are the best to set up shop ?

  2. I know someone who is doing this also. One piece of advice is to avoid the large states. For example, New Jersey may be one of the worst -- even U. Phoenix has not managed to open a campus there. Pick a small state. In a small state, you can call the Attorney General, and he/she will actually pick up the phone and speak with you. In a large state you'll get bogged down in endless bureaucracy. Without giving away anyone's secrets, I'd suggest you pick a small state with an apparently rigid anti-degree mill law and with an Attorney General and/or Board of Regents willing to work with you. This way you can avoid being lumped with the degree mills, but at the same time have the flexibility of working with a small state. You will almost certainly have to actually set up shop physically in the small state because one of the arguments you will need to use to get the state's support is that you are bringing in business (i.e. employment and other economic benefits).

I personally think that the window of opportunity for this sort of thing may be closing. The DL pioneers are now well-established, and the conventional universities are encroaching on the space.
