The movement against the ACT & SAT is in full steam now, many schools (I would argue rightfully) are starting to remove them as application requirements for the Fall semester. Their value as predictors of traditional academic success has been questioned for some time. Even prior to the pandemic we were seeing some schools start to question their value and even remove them from admissions.

The following report from the University of California Academic Senate is interesting. Still trying to skim through it all, but:
    • Faculty Senate is resisting the movement away from standardized testing for admission
    • Decries politically motivated movement against standardized testing
    • Declares that based on UofC data, standardized test scores are BETTER predictors of first-year GPA than high school GPA.
