Sorry Gert. Sometimes I tend to gloss over the 'shotgun' posts ;) I believe the last part of your post nullifies your answer. The Kilmer Oak was felled "in 1963 because it was weakend by age and disease."

  4. Here's a post from Rutgers Magazine: http://ur.rutgers.edu/magazine/atoz4.html. Confirms the details in your post. Ok, I'll accept that your answer is right and mine was only half right (and half wrong). So the question becomes whether the Millard Fillmore Institute will allow me to graduate with a "C" grade!

I've already got booty from 3 puzzlers past (a.e.d.) ... a couple books and a batch of chocolate chip cookies (*burp*). I wouldn't mind adding an MFI diploma though.

BTW, is Gert Potgieter the SA equivalent of John Smith? For the longest time I was a T&F nut and now I know why your name seemed familiar ...

  6. OK, I withdraw my attempted answer to Question 1.

Gert Potgieter is not the SA equivalent of John Smith. But perhaps South Africa's answer to Wayne Newton?

There's no need to do that ... let the judge .... uhhh ... be the judge.
