I watched as drwetsch (99,998) and NNAD (99,999) posted. Then humbug101, Gus Sainz, and drwetsch posted at nearly the same time. The way I determined the order was by using the "View New Posts" link immediately after their three posts appeared, with the count at 100,002. This showed the most recent post as drwetsch, preceded by Gus, preceded by humbug101.

The reason I was watching rather than posting myself was that I couldn't think of anything worth posting. I didn't think of submitting a gratuitous post (such as humbug101's) merely to win the contest. Oh well...

My guess is that my observations are all that we have to decide the winner of the contest.

I see that I made both ends of the posted 100,000 curve, +2 and -2. I was surprised that I was close and was not trying to win. But came close with no potatoes anyway.....:)

The next question, what are acceptable degree titles from the Millard Fillmore Institute? I guess it would be up to humbug101, Dr. Bear, or the moderators in making the award. I will make a suggestion -- how about a "Doctor of Discussion" (D.D.) or "Doctor of Distant Discussion" (D.D.D.) :D

    Hi all,

As one who was not actively trying to win but who just happened to log in and see it was very close, it was just a whim post.

I also do not want to cause hard feelings because of my pure luck so, I am more than willing to resign from my lofty position to keep peace on the board.

All I ask for is a happy board because a happy board is an active board!

    Regards,

In the absence of any ruling from the moderators, you win! I suggest you contact Dr. Bear to claim your degree.

Since Dr. Wetsch already has a Millard Fillmore Institute doctorate (in addition to his earned one), and since Gus Sainz won most of the 'puzzler' contests I 've put up here, until he retired to give others a chance, and since Mr. Humbug wrote me a charming private Email, he's getting the diploma. If DegreeInfo (which which I have no involvement other than as a member) wishes to do something else for one or two or all three, I think that would be very nice.

In that case I must demand the award be given to me because a contentious and capricious post makes an active thread! :D

Crikey! It takes someone such as Dr, Bear to see through my tongue-in-cheek agent provocateur persona. Oy Vey! C'est la vie! On to the next one! :D :D :D
