Seems the MAGA cult in the House wants to "punish" New York for pursuing a criminal. Not very law and order of them but the Dear Leader is above the law. I think there’s an element of electoral desperation though. Johnson knows the GOP will lose the House in November and incredibly might not win control of the Senate. Tne MAGA folks know that they have to consolidate their Base and outrage is the best way they know. Anyway, nothing will get through this Senate even IF Johnson gets his bullshit through the House but the effort will cost him all Democratic support. He's toast.
Mike Johnson is very religious. He stands for truth and honesty, except in politics. When it comes to Trump, his stand for truth and honesty flies out the window. I'm not sure that any legislation will even get far enough along to worry Democrats? It is an interesting possibility though. If the Republicans take another pass at vacating the Speaker's chair it would only make them look as dysfunctional as they actually are. Yeah, about what I'd expect. Yapping and posturing costs MAGA Representatives nothing so long as no one actually succeeds. Much like abortion was before Dobbs. Sometimes I wonder if the whole MAGA Base is really as stupid as Congressional Republicans seem to think.
