I recall some number of strong and loud dissenting voices aimed at the DETC for accrediting ACCIS after they had taken what many would say was an unethical position on stating previous bogus accreditation. Apparently DETC looked more heavily on its processes and academics and less on its questionable ethical practices regarding its accreditation claims. There were comments that opined this was a sure sign that DETC could not be trusted in their decision making. Now comes Trinity candidacy for accreditation. I have read in another thread that it appears NCA may be looking at the Trinity processes and academics and less at their questionable previous ethical practices. Any thoughts on how this reflects on the DETC/ACCIS accreditation relative to this NCA/Trinity candidacy?
We will see what happens if Trinity gets accredited. If they do, any degrees earned from them prior to accreditation would still be unaccredited. If a school is really cleaning up its act and is obtaining a legitimate accreditation that is a good thing but I am not going to be holding my breath on this one. I hope that Trinity is not claiming "candidacy status" as I believe DETC does not have this as an official status. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
