Union had a fully-stocked bookstore until it closed about a year ago. For the hell of it, I phoned the school today, and the switchboard operator (who is located in the thick of things, and around the corner from the old bookstore) knew of no insignia merchandise at all. When the bookstore was open, they had the full range of insignia merchandise and memorabilia - let's see . . . t-shirts, sweatshirts, sport shirts, golf shirts, jackets, hats, shorts and sweatpants, posters, pens, ring binders, pads and social notes, portfolio covers, checkbook covers, CD and disk holders, bumper stickers and decals, coffee mugs, glassware and pewter, diploma frames, school rings, textbooks for seminars, a full range of books written by faculty/students/alumni, ad infinitum.

The only things I've seen from the allegedly new-and-improved Union Institute & University are a cheapo pen and note pad, handed out to prospective learners at a presentation in which I participated last year. Big whoop.

The fact that the bookstore no longer exists is insignificant in the long haul, but it is yet another example of Union being a better school when I graduated than when Rich . . . well, you know. :D

The real value merchandise is actually from Vermont College, from the days when it was the bastard child of Norwich University (before it became the foster child of Union). V.C. had its own bookstore in the days that traditional students were housed on campus (before they were kicked up the road to the main Norwich campus). After the trad's* moved to Northfield, the most one could find was a token t-shirt or two at the Norwich bookstore that merely said "Vermont College" (without the VC-of-NU logo they had at Montpelier). Today, I believe, you can still get a small assortment of V.C. insignia apparrel (the grad program has its own t-shirt) from the Gary Library, but this was presumably done without the endorsement of its foster parent (Union).

By the way, TESC has a pretty good line of insignia merchandise, and it's all pictured on their web site.

    those precious mugs

I noticed NCU has announced a soon-to-be student store, but it was slated to open mid-June and still is nowhere to be found. I don't understand why they have such a rinky-dink web site after gaining RA status.

Confirmation of Levicoff's review of the Union Institute bookstore... not that anything Steve says requires confirmation (Cheers, Steve) .

My wife told me that the sweatshirt (and golf shirt) that I got were purchased well before last December (and socked away). Glad she got them when she did. I'll have to wear them sparingly... either that or go back to school again.

    Cheers,

Out of the biggest DL schools I am familiar with, Capella beats them all in creating school spirit memorabilia.
They have very well designed Capella purple mugs, t-shirts and sweaters with the Capella logo and name, umbrellas, backpacks, hats, bags, flags and coats.

I particularly like their logo the best from all of the DL schools.
The one that looks like an angel walking forth with open arms.
