    Yes,

This thing is been around for a long long time.

"the opportunity exists due to a legal loophole allowing some established colleges to award degrees at their discretion. I wouldn't be surprised to see this loophole close very soon."

This junk is around for 5 or 6 years that I have seen maybe even longer.

    I get these almost weekly.

I think most on here prefer that phone numbers are not posted from such outfits.

    Question

    Hi Lerner:

I am a little confused. Please forgive my ignorance. Are you suggesting that certain colleges are offering legitimate degrees through some kind of loophole? This may qualify as a "stupid" question, but are you sure? To my knowledge, no legitimate College or University can grant "legitimate" degrees in two weeks. With all due respect, are you trying to say these legally operating colleges(probably not accredited) are offering a mere "Diploma" to hang on the wall, and also some kind of service for verification?

I am not trying to be sarcastic, just merely curious and intrigued.

    Thanks,

    Abner

Relax. He was just quoting from the original spam in the thread-starting post. These kinds of misunderstandings happen, in part, because some people around here just refuse to learn how to use the

I can think of only one way that one could earn a legit degree in "virtually no time", and that's the practice of some UK schools offering doctorates by published work, typically to their own graduates, professors, etc. Of course, to say that they earned these degrees in "virtually no time" is a misnomer--hence the quotes--as they are typically earned after years of academic research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals on a PhD level. That person has essentially done all that's necessary for the award of the doctorate, they just did it in a backdoor manner.

I think--though not certain--that Einstein earned his doctorate is some similar backdoor manner. How do you deny that academic distinction to the one who published the most groundbreaking work in the field in ten generations? Didn't his doctorate from the U of Zurich basically get awarded on the basis of his significant publishing (including a little thing called Relativity) rather than doing the traditional coursework and such?

Wait...they're 'varifiable' so they must be legit, right?

    It is? ;) [kidding]

Hmmm. Not so good an example, I think. One's ability to do a job -- and even to do it well -- has little to do with what a degree which might qualify one to do that very same job is all about. This has been discussed alot here. I invite you to find some of Rich Douglas's previous writings, here, on the subject. That said, I still get your point. Understood.

    Ah, I see. Okay, thanks.
