OK, I don’t usually post things like this, but this was so interesting that I had to share. Forget starting your own country on an abandoned British WWII gun platform (e.g. Sealand)… forget starting your own country via geo-engineering a bunch of islands in the Caribbean (e.g. New Utopia)… think Arks… Giant Space Arks… to protect humanity from the nano-technology threat of “gray goo”. For more info, see: http://lifeboat.com/ex/main I think that we should start a pool as to when the first space-based mill will emerge (I say next Tuesday). Cheers, Tony Maranto
Sound an awful lot like Babylon 5 (which happens to be my alltime favorite scifi series: www.babylon5.com). I hadn't thought of this before, but the Babylon 5 space station seems curiously devoid of any educational facilities or opportunities for its many thousands of residents.
First rule of interstellar survival... leave the professors behind (and the lawyers, and the politicians, and the Department of Motor Vehicle cashiers... the list goes on and on). Cheers, Tony
Telephone sanitizers Everyone who has read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy knows who gets the B Ark.
Re: Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy Remember what happened when they shipped off all their telephone sterilizers??? That "B" Ark may be important in ways we don't anticipate!
